Before writing a letter to a prisoner, think carefully about it. Many prisoners are lonely and don't have contact with family and friends anymore. Many don't get any mail, so finally getting some mail , having someone to 'talk to' and feeling part of society again means a lot to them. They are looking for a long lasting friendship, not for someone who disappears after a few letters or who writes only a few times a year. Don't forget most inmates have been through many disappointing situations and some have been abandoned by penpals before. You must take some responsibility when you decide to start a correspondence and it'll take some dedication and consistence on your part sometimes. Prisoners are people with feelings like you and me, they feel the ache of loneliness, they feel the guilt of their past but they also can feel the happiness of receiving a letter written especially to them. We started this website because we are so enthousiastic about writing with our pals. If you decide that you'll want to join us, we would be very happy.
